Paul Warton, Executive Vice President of Hydro Extrusions, has been appointed as the new Chairman of European Aluminium, succeeding Philipp Schlüter of Trimet Aluminium. Warton attended the opening of Hydro’s new aluminum recycling plant in Hungary, emphasizing the need for industry unity to address key issues like sustainability, fair trade, and industrial resilience.
With over 30 years of experience in the global aluminium and extrusion industry, Warton previously served as Treasurer of European Aluminium’s Executive Committee. He highlighted aluminium’s vital role in Europe’s green transition and its importance to sectors such as automotive, packaging, construction, defense, and renewable energy.
Alongside Warton’s appointment, Matt Schicke of Rio Tinto joined the Executive Committee, and Guillaume de Goys, CEO of Aluminium Dunkerque, was named Treasurer. Based in Brussels, European Aluminium represents over 100 members across 30 countries, covering the entire aluminium value chain.
